Один из типов бесполого размножения, осуществляющегося путем отделения от материнского организма многоклеточной части, развивающейся в дочерний организм; форма В.р. у животных - почкование budding; у растений В.р. происходит путем отделения неспециализированных частей (у водорослей и грибов) либо путем образования специализированных участков (у некоторых водорослей, лишайников и грибов); у высших растений в основе В.р. лежит способность к регенерации regeneration.
